DUAL DIAGNOSIS
- The Ministry of Community and Social Services
funds a residential case management program for those individuals who live
with a dual diagnosis.
The term dual diagnosis is used when an individual has been labeled "developmentally
handicapped," as well as having experienced a mental health problem. The
purpose of the program is to ensure that those individuals who do live with
a dual diagnosis receive the ongoing support that they require. Individuals
live within 24 hour staffed settings, family home environments or within
their own apartment. Each person supported has a community support worker
who will assist them with developing and attaining their personal goals
and to ensure that they maintain good mental health.
