The support of siblings, is very important to a child with Down Syndrome. Michelle is Jessica's big sister, she has played a very important part in Jessicas' development, thus far. Michelle has taught her many things that has helped Jess to grow as a person.
* Gross Motor skills - pulls to stand, climbing stairs, support while walking
* Fine Motor skills - clapping, how to handle toys, scribbling, pushes toys, poke at objects.

* Self Help skills - holding a bottle / cups, how to eat with a spoon, take socks off
* Cognitive skills - imitates while using toys, role playing
* Language skills - listens to Michelles sounds, and listens while being read to.
* Social skills - climbing, throwing / rolling balls, riding mobility toys, turning pages of books, and showing her signing.
These are just a few things that we have observed as a parent. The most important of all is that Michelle shows Jessica that she loves her sister. As you can see , Michelle shows her affection very well. Before bed every night, no matter what, they give each other a hug and kiss before heading to bed.
